My Entrepreneurship Story

An entrepreneur I know that has inspired me and proven that chasing your dreams is all worth it is a family friend of mine named Gwen. A former dental hygienist, stay at home Mother, and sales associate, her lifelong dream was to run her own clothing store. The opportunity surfaced when a reputable boutique in Ponte Vedra Beach went up for sale. In 2012, Gwen took the plunge and acquired the business. She renamed the store “Gwen Berlin” and rebranded it to her ideal boutique.
With her entrepreneurial spirit, hardworking attitude, and passion for the retail industry, Gwen’s boutique has flourished with success. In 2014, she launched an online store, allowing her to reach new consumers. Gwen sets her store apart from the rest by utilizing her unique and fresh eye for great pieces. Gwen Berlin is stocked with the latest trends, classic pieces, and gorgeous accessories. Her store caters to all women, no matter her age; so all women will find something to fit their likings. Aside from being found on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest, Gwen Berlin has gotten exposure from being featured in First Coast Magazine and Ponte Vedra Life Magazine.

Being innovative in the industry, having passion for your work, and taking business risks are just a few components of being an entrepreneur. Gwen has demonstrated these characteristics and I believe they have helped her become the businesswoman she is today.

Why I am taking ENT 3003:
As a marketing major at the University of Florida, my courses encompass all aspects of the business world. Finance, Consumer Behavior, Management, and Business Law are just a few courses I have taken to give me a well rounded business education. Now enrolled in Principles of Entrepreneurship, I plan to learn the qualities and processes that go into being a successful entrepreneur. A personal goal of mine is to own a business and I believe this class will give me insight for my future endeavor.

  2. Wow that is really inspiring! It's awesome that you have someone in your life that you can talk to and use as an example to help make your entrepreneur ventures successful. Especially someone who is as successful as Gwen.

  3. I love this post. Its really interesting and inspiring to see a woman that not only had a career, was a stay at home mom, and followed her dreams and did something that she enjoys that still makes her money. Ideally, that would be how I would want my life to go. I will definitely check out Gwen's store. Judging by the pictures, it looks like our styles are pretty similar.

  4. I am interested in retail fashion also so this post was the perfect one to read. The store looks so cute and put together. I would definitely shop there. Starting an online store is so smart since the retail industry is all online now pretty much and then it reaches a bigger audience. She is inspiring to me. I now think this may be something I want to go into.
